MP denounces Palocci by bidding for the purchase of sauce

The State Public Ministry (MEP) from Sao Paulo published on Saturday a complaint against Mr Antonio Palocci (PT-SP), former Minister of Finance of the Lula government. The promoters joined with a civil action to investigate alleged irregularities public bidding for the purchase of tomato sauce with peas by the mayor of Ribeirao Preto (SP), when he administered the city, from 2000 to 2002.

According to the newspaper Estado de São Paulo, the MPE Palocci accused of encouraging a group of entrepreneurs in the sector of food contract without bidding for the prefecture. Nine contracts were under suspicion. The prosecutors estimated a loss of $ 2.19 million to municipal coffers, not on value corrected.

The MEP claims that the bids were directed from the requirement for inclusion of refogado tomato sauce with peas and compulsory component of some lists. However, few companies manufacture the product.
