Born in Porto Alegre (RS) on March 15 of 1938, Luiz Carlos Ferreira Maciel is journalist, playwright, screenwriter of movies, philosopher, poet and writer. Despite its vast expertise in the cultural scene Brazilian, Luiz Carlos Maciel is commonly remembered for his participation in Pasquim, with the Underground column, when then wrote articles about the alternative movements that erupted in the world, as well as the demonstrations earlier that they served as the basis Such as romanticism, the surrealism, the existentialism Sartre, literature's Beat Generation, the Marxism, among many horizons (re) discovered at the time. In the 1980s, gives courses in screenwriting and playwriting, technical roadmap, in cultural centers, schools of theater and audiovisual production companies.

During the 1990s, has more regularity in their incursions as a theater director, in spectacles: Screening plant, by Paulo Coelho, 1992; mockery, of Eric Verissimo, 1995; Jango, a tragedy, the only piece written by Glauber Rocha, 1996; Life , Banana and Passion of Tropicalismo, from Torquato Neto and Capinan, 1998, among others. In 1996, publishes in Trance Generation - Memories of Time of Tropicalismo, which looks at different times and works of Brazilian counterculture.

Admired by many, Luiz Carlos Maciel becomes an icon of the counterculture, writing, editing, directing, giving hints and criticizing the work of most requested artists of the period.
